So im thinking about buying a 2001 Range Rover HSE. There is also a 2001 Land Rover Discovery for the same amount of money. Just wondering which is a better SUV out of the two. I mean as in which one would be the better buy. Also did the Range Rover and Land Rover come with Center Diff Locks?

 

Have your mechanic inspect before purchase. Both can be good vehicles or bad money pits. Some years of Disco did not have the CDL lever installed, but the innards for it were present in the transfer case, and it could be added. Shop manual and owners manuals are in the RAVE download below (Rover factory manual set, we think it stands for Rovers A'int Very Economical).

 

I would go with the Disco as I think the D2's were more reliable then the p38's. But if the p38 has the 4.6 in it, i might reconsider. Also if you choose the rangie make sure its been converted to coils as the air suspension gets expensive to maintain in its old age.
