Default Time for a change.....maybe

My ever faithful 1994 170000 mile Discovery 200Tdi Auto which, at the time of writing has only ever broken down once, is being ravaged by the tin worm

The front inner wings are a delicate latticework of brown and blue

The rear floor is more air than floor

The sills or cills if you prefer are rock solid 'cos they were done last year.

It goes really well, engine and gearbox are sweet,
everything works
the sunroofs don't leak

But I am in fear of the dreaded MOT test in July
Indeed the mere thought of it makes me tremble like a rose petal in the breeze.... see, I'm a poet and I don't know it.

So it may be that "Chuggly" (my wifes name for it because she thinks it sounds like an old tractor) may have to go.
Why do women give cars names ?

Anyway, enough of that B******s

I am thinking of buying a P38 either Diesel or V8, man or Auto not bothered.
We mainly use it as a mile muncher when we go visiting family down south, We live near Glasgow and the families are near London
but we do a lot of walking...Yes we are the much maligned Ramblers aswell... so we do some green laning and very occasionally tow a trailer.

I think I would be fooling myself if I expect a P38 to be as trouble free as the old Discovery, but
What should I be looking for and how can I tell a pig from a good one

Many thanks in advance
Tim
