i am looking at a 2001 range rover used. there is a up down switch in the center of the dash w/ a 4 led inicator beside it what is the function of this. can put the vehicle in 4-wheel dr. by using the gear shift an can disengage by this method. if this malfuntioning would like to know thanks

 

The up down button will either raise or lower the air suspension. All rovers are full time 4wd. If you want to put it in to low range, STOP FIRST and then you must shift the gear select into neutral and then slide it across the H-gate to the other side. If I were you, I'd spend some time in the owners manual so you can get a more detailed description of the vehicles operation.
