I keep running into some very expensive batteries for my 2001 RR 4.6 HSE. Why is it $300.00 for the battery on my vehicle? Are there less expensive options? Mind you we live in Southern California so I don't have to worry about it being too cold here. Thanks in advance for your replies.

DiscoMike,
Firstly, it is great to see you on here. You have helped so much over the years with my Discovery II and now my Rangie. I do appreciate all the help. Anyhow, currently my battery has something like 800 CCA. I have seen in some of the battery manufacturers manuals that the Range Rover needs something like 900 CCA. That sounds ridiculous to me. I do not run any accessories other than my phone. Cost is an issue so I need to be somewhat cautious as I do not feel that I need to spend $250-$300 on a car battery. Is there a particular Interstate model you suggest?

Was in a Sears this January because my battery was pretty much dead. Was told multiple times that they no longer make the battery for my 02 Range Rover. Checked sears online at home and website told me same thing. Went to advanced auto and auto zone to get one myself and do it. No one had a battery and could not order one for me.
Looked at what the battery was in the car and it was a Interstate Brand. Looked up Interstate dealers in my area and took it to Firestone Auto Care and had it replaced. Battery was $200 plus labor and a new positive line.
I can get the model number of the battery if you need it, I cant remember it, but it's not cheap...

I ended up getting an Interstate battery with 950 CCA and 1190 CA. A bit expensive but it should cover me for this vehicle. This was more powerful than any that I could find on the shelves in any store as it had to be ordered. Works great at this time. Thanks to all who helped out. I had a coupon and the total was about $130.00 total.
