Default what kind of oil and filter?

have a 03 range rover hse, any suggestions on what kind of oil and filter i should use, i only go about 2 miles to work and back everyday, so little driving but lots of stops.
when changing brake pads, rotors, and the drivers side brake sensor ( it was gone) do both sensors need to be changed? because we can not get the brake light or the check brake pads to go off.
thanks

You can get a Purolator from Pep Boys, Advance Auto, etc. for less than $10.00. The filter comes with the brass washer for the drain bolt as well as a pre-lubed rubber washer for the oil filter housing.

You can't beat that price.

It's recommend by LR that you use full synthetic oil. Mobil 1 full synthetic anda regular Fram oil filter works for me.

You should let a repair shop do your brakes because they have to resurface the rotors even thought LR says to change them for every brake job. I disagree, but what do I know I just drive the vehicle.

And Original Filter. 2002 Disco Part#ER3340
I cut a LandRover filter open and they are well constructed and with 80 Pleats for a 4-1/2 lenght filterthere are vary few After market filters that are as Robust.

Filter on left is Aftermarket 5-1/2 inch 66 Pleet.(Made in the EU) $10.95
Filter on the Right is LandRover Original 4-1/2 inch 80 Pleet.(Made in Poland) $15.75

use the factory filter, others will fail and can cause engine damage, very common on that bmw engine. as for the brake light, there is only one sensor up front and one in the back, oppisite sides. assuming there is a good sensor in the rear, you need to leave the key on, engine off for about 30-45 seconds and the light will turn off, if not, youre most likely looking at a bad or missing rear sensor

If you go on line, you will find many oil filter comparisons, 2 of the best filters on the market that are both better then the factory filter are the Mobil1-310 and the K&N 3001, both of which are the larger filters with better valving, more and higher quality filter media.
The Fram is rated at the bottom of nearly all filter comparison test, stay away from it.
For short daily trips of a couple miles, change your oil every 3000 miles.

you can only use 1 filter size. the updated filter that youll get at the dealership is what what you need, its built to bmw specs and you wont find any better

I purchased my vehicle and it had a valvoline oil filter in it, After a couple of weeks it began to leak and the drip was coming right down the filter. SoI thought okay the oil filter is not tight, but it was. Then I changed the filter and used a FRAM and still leaking. Took it to my mechanic and he inspected and thought something was wrong with the filter, so he replaced with a PartsPlus filter andit wasstill leaking. Took it into the LR dealership and the inspected leak and said the same thing... oil filter! Replace with Original oil filter from dealer ship and leak went away... I guess for my 96 RR it will be using the suggested oil filter from LR. Hope this helps
