Windshield Removal
Found a decent heated windshield at a salvage yard, but I'm not entirely sure how to remove it and save the rubber at the same time. Does anyone know whether or not it's possible, or should I just cut away, and use the wire method? Any advice out there? I will have a pro install it once I get it out.
Hi there,
I just had mine replaced about 3 weeks ago. Windshields are very difficult to remove without breaking them. I would just bite the bullet and go for a new one. Besides, if "SC surfer" means you live in South Carolina windshield replacement is free. (insurance pays for it) Hope that helps you.

Thanks for the response, I live in California, and the cost of a new "heated" windshield is somewhere around $900, so the salvage yard glass does have an advantage--I went ahead and sliced up the seal on my broken windshield with a razor from the outside and slowly eased it out--no problem. I will have a shop replace the one I got from the yard.
Thanks, SC
Thanks, SC
