03 Freelander Doors stay locked
Ok, last night I hopped into my Freelander and ran up to the store. Got out, and I think I locked it when I was walking into the store, I know I pressed the lock button twice, but I didn't actually stand there to watch it lock. I come out, press the unlock button... nothing, door stays locked. I press it twice, still no response, I did this several times. Then I press the lock button and the interior red alarm light on the dash flashes several times and so do the yellow blinkers outside of the vehicle. I press the unlock on the remote and still nothing. I walk around the car looking to see if any doors are open and they aren't. Then I get to the back of the car and the rear window is down. I put the key into the trunk door and turn it and the window rolls up! I'm utterly confused at this point.
I go to the driver's door and unlock it with the key, I get in, start the car, everything seems fine, then I try to unlock the other doors using the switch inside the car, no response! I try to open the doors with the interior handles NOTHING.
I drove home, got out, shut the door, tried the lock button on the remote, and of course the doors do not lock so I have to lock it with the key....
It can't be a problem with the keyfob because the car is getting a signal when I push the lock button (the red light flashes and the yellow exterior lights flash too).
I tried to call Land Rover but their normal business hours are M-F and today is Sunday.
I've went thru the owners manual and I can't find anything of help.
I've been online since last night looking thru forums trying to find someone with the same problem but I haven't.
It almost seems like some type of anti-theft system has engaged but it still starts AND I haven't been asked for my code. I've had to put the code in twice before, once cuz the battery died and I got jumped and the second time was right after when I had the battery replaced.
I hope that someone has an easy fix for me. I'll freely admit that I'm not the most mechanically inclined so I haven't bothered with this batter disconnection technique that I've seen in some other threads.
The only thing that I've had worked on with the vehicle recently are front brake pads replaced and that was a month ago. Other than that, nothing.
Please help!
