04 Disco II General Questions
As I am becoming a new Disco owner (and user of this forum) I was wondering if anybody Could help me with these questions...
1. Does anybody know a good shop in the Charleston, WV area?
2. Is there a good (single) manual with IPB's (illustrated parts breakdowns) out there or do you have to get one for the engine, one for the chassis.....? I am hands on, mechanically inclined.
3. Whilst the front drive shaft is removed (for installation of greaseables), is it ok to drive the vehicle while the shaft is out? I can mark it with a wire wheel for orientation (re-install), I've driven other brands by the front alone or without the front shafts however they had free hubs, I don"t know if doing this will cause problem on a full timer? Sweetness sitting next to me is afraid she wont be able to go shopping for two or three hours, so do I tell her yes or break out the Pimp Hand (kidding of course)?
Thanks
Robert

RE: 04 Disco II General Questions
Yes, you can drive onb the rear shaft only, just shift your t/case into High lock.
You will get some warning lights on when doing this, just disregard them.
Make sure when you have the shaft rebuilt that the use 2 new u-joints with grease fittings and a centering ball kit, Percision #617, or the rebuild will not hold up.
