I'm thinking of buying a 02 plated Freelander fitted with a 1.8 petrol with a gas conversion. I've never had anything to do with the freelander petrol (I already have a Series 1, 2.0ltr diesel). I have heard some horrific stories re the petrol engine. Also heard there are a number of modifications that make the engine a lot better.

Anyone any advice as to what I should be looking for on the petrol one? What I should avoid and anyone know what the mods were?
