1992 RR warning lights flashing intermittently
Hi all. My problem started with the transmission oil temperature warning light coming on while I was on the freeway. After I parked the RR and left it for about 4 hours, I started it up and the light came on again even when the engine was cold. I checked the transmission fluid, it was clear and red. I had the sensor replaced.
Now, the light still comes on when I first start the car, but will go off, then get dimmer, and then come on again intermittently. In the meantime, the brake warning light is now coming on intermittently, after the car has been running, (and the parking brake is not engaged), and then goes off again. The oil light is also coming on and off sporatically, even though the oil level is fine. So the three lights are popping on and off intermittently, principally the tranmission oil (sometimes dim) and the brake light.
Is there a logical relationship among these lights, or are they likely to be separate problems? Do I need to have my mechanic check for a short or other electrical problem? He is is not a RR expert and said it could take him a long time to trace the problem. Any guidance would be much appreciated, as I'm trying to save $ and a trip to the very $$$$ LR dealership service shop.
I do love my Rover and want to keep her as long as I can.
Thanks!
