Hello all,

I must admit that I have never owned a Land Rover until now. A little over nine days ago I purchased my very first 2000 Disco II in immaculate condition with only 93800 miles on her... I love her.

Five days ago it finally snowed and I had a blast. She handled exceptionally well all around.

Today I noticed a strange sound while accelerating and only while accelerating. It sounds like crickets chirping. The sound seems to happen between 20 - 50 mph. It's very annoying but it can only be heard with the window down.

Have any other owners experienced this and if so, what was its cause?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Fixed.

Problem was being caused by damaged drive shaft.

Man did you dodge a bullet.

Waiting until the shaft fails usually results in a 3" hole in the transmission.

Yesterday, after she was done, I drove back to the mound of snow I had climbed the day before, the one I'm pretty sure caused the damage... Turns out it was a concrete divider.
