Default 2000 Disco II rear caliper leaks

I changed out my pads about 3000 miles/6 months ago, but felt like my brakes were still too soft so eventually got around to bleeding them a week or so ago. I was also getting lots of squeal so I took the pads out and put anti-squeal goo on them. Took care of the squeal no problem.

However, I didn't put the right-rear caliper back on around the rotor while I was bleeding the left-rear sothe pump/bleed process we were doing on the other wheel caused the caliper piston to extend very far out- left fluid all over the place. I eventually got it pushed back in, but had to take the caliper all the way out. I haven't had a chance to take the wheel off yet, but it's got a hefty leak and will barely stop from an idle. I'm guessing I ruined the seals. Is that a good bet? Is it easy to get a proper seal with the rebuild kit? My concern is that I won't be able to get a good seal even with the kit; it's a bit of an art getting the piston in with both seals. Thanks,

dylan
