20009 LR2 VCU - Viscous Coupling Unit

I do believe that the Freelander had a VCU in the drivetrain, not totally aware of what it did but have seen pictures of it.
I have a 2009 LR2 that the dealer just quoted replacing the differential and Viscous coupler, asked what that was and the rep said "it connects the two driveshafts together"
I looked under the vehicle this weekend and there is no VCU that I could find. It is a multi-driveshaft setup with support bearings, but no VCU that I could find.
Am I crazy or is the dealer crazy....Thanks
