Default 2002 Disco 2 Ckp sensor replaced still cranks no start

A few weeks ago, my 02 disco 2 started missing while running. Then, it wouldn't start. Got crank and spark, but no start. After reading a lot of threads on this issue, I changed the ckp and bench tested the fuel pump. Pump was good, relays are intact. Still no start and fuel pump is not activating during start up. I did notice that a too large for the hole rubber plug was loose on the flywheel cover, just below exhaust manifold below ckp. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Any information would be greatly appreciated

The rubber plug is just an inspection hole. Nothing to do with your issue.

Thank you, for responding. I have checked everything I can think of. The fuel pump is not turning on during start up. I tried bridging the relay to "make" the pump run and it worked to make it run, but engine still won't start.

Checked inertia switch and reset it. Still cranks now fuel pump comes on. Sprayed starter fluid in air intake. No start.

Could this be a BCU or ECM issues, or is there something a little more simpler? I may try replacing the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Sorry, I can't really help you with your issue. I've seen several similar threads recently in the Discovery II section of this forum though. Perhaps try searching/posting there.

Wild guess.... do you have the correct crank pos sensor? D1 is different than D2. And there is a spacer for one IIRC. Perhaps the sensor is simply not aligned properly to sense the teeth flying by. Another guess would be to check the entire length of the CkPS wiring harness. The wires can be more of a problem than the sensor itself.
