2002 DISCO STARTING LIKE PULLIN TEETH
OK I posted about this before but never really got a straight answer or if I did I can't find the forum to read back on it. OK 2002 Disco starts like a champ in the morning or if its been sitting for over 3 or 4 hours I would say. However if I get it started and lets say drive to Walmart (about 10 minutes away or anywhere else) park it and go inside for 20 minutes; when I come back out and try to start it up it usually takes about 3 start attempts for it to start. What can it be? I have changed plugs and wires just because it was time. Bosch Plats 4. Magnecor 8mm wires. Battery is a 3 month old Optima red top. It starts in the morning so I rule out the alternator not charging thebattery. So now I turn to you guys for ideas. Mike I think you said something about a check valve in the fuel line but how do you explain the start in the mornings? I would think that is more than enough time for fuel to drain completely back to the tank if that was the case.
Have you still not thrown a code?
If not, I would lean towards a crank sensor, that won't always throw a code and can cause whqat you are describing.

2002 d2 does not have a fuel return line so if fuel is your problem you probably need a pump. put a gauge on it and drive it let it sit and see where the pressure is at when u attempt to start. should be the same press as when u first started the car. around 50lbs if i remember correctly. if the pressure is ok id look at a crank sensor like mike said

crank sensor... how big of a job is that? how much do they cost?

Yes there is and I don't remember how. It will need to be tested when it is in a no start mode.
A really good scanner will probably show the sensor activity.
