Red face 2008 LR3 Engine bogging down going up a hill

The problem I having is when I am traveling a normal speed of 55 mph on a straight away. Then I must go up a steep hill. The RPMS go up but the doesn't kick down to get up the hill. It having a hard time getting up the hill. I have taken it to the dealer and no codes twice. It has a slight miss, i sometimes smell gas, and muffler is in great shape. Please help if you know what i can do.

thanks, boggieshoos

I wish I had an lr3. I've started watching your forums just to get an idea what to look for in one.

The component that might unify all of those problems is the throttle position sensor. It informs the transmission when you are heavy on the pedal and also informs the engine when you want more gas. If it is faulty your engine could bog by having too little or too much gas, and fail to tell the transmission that you want to go faster or maintain speed regardless of the strain on the engine.

Pull codes and report back.

Engine, Trans, Transfer and ABS. Check the reading while watching live data on the TPMS and that should tell you whether its reading or not.

Sounds like a trans is in order depending on mileage.

I wonder if the transmission will shift in command shift mode. In Drive position, move the shifter to the left and push it to the negative sign or the rear of the LR3. This should down shift the transmission.

If the engine is not running correctly, you can have poor shift quality due to lack of engine power. Your check engine light will most likely be on, especially if you have a misfire.

Good call, I was rereading this and thought well if a cylinder is down (most likely coil pack or basic tuneup) it could cause the same issue. But the light would be on. It could be a pending code, I can't remember the number of times it has to misfire consecutively to set the light.
