Default 2008 LR3 HSE HDC fault, Parking Br fault, Special Programs NA, ABS light, lowered sus

Hi, recently bought a used 2008 LR3 136,000 miles. Changed the battery two weeks ago with Napa Legend. I noticed a few weeks back when I put the car in reverse, that it sometimes would not back up. Switching to D and then back to R seemed to solve the issue. I also noticed that the i could not manually change the suspension level with the lever in the center console. I could manually raise the car but was not able to lower it back down. I was never able to lower the car manually at all.

Started the car early this AM and it said HDC fault system not available, Parking Br fault, special programs not available. Additionally, the ABS light, suspension light, dynamic light, brake light, and DSC light are all illuminated amber. I also noticed that I have to hold the lever in the D position to drive, otherwise it switched to neutral. I think the car does not go more than 35 because the suspension is lowered.

some water from my water bottle (I think) did get into the sill where the doors shut on the passenger side. We vacuumed up the water and let it air dry. This was about 1.5 months ago. We experienced no problems until now.

I replaced the brake light switch but it did not fix the issue. I’m not sure what else to try before bringing it to my mechanic and spending $$$ on diagnosis. Just looking for a little direction to see if I can fix things.

I can provide images later if need be

Posting in the specific LR3 forum helps get more eyes, FYI. I only found this post by accident.

Shifting issues can often be the shifting linkage itself at the transmission. Passenger side, forward area. Sorta hidden by heat shield. Spray with silicone lubricant, liberally and that lets things slide a lot easier. If the components are worn, rebuild kits are available. I have the kit but found the lubricating the linkage every year was working fine for me.

Suspension issue sounds like a defective/dirty switch. Its a process to remove it and clean it, but its doable. Plenty of info on the forums. If the switch is really bad its usually from corrosion by drink spill or sunroof left open during rain. However, if you get any messages on the cluster info display when doing the height change attempt, its another issue and we need those messages.

Your HDC fault along with the rest could be a result of the shifter not being in proper position. But it could be a bad brake light, malfunctioning diff lock motor (if installed) or even the brake light switch ($15, easy to replace, common issue). Really need codes to be certain. Many systems depend on others to work, so when one goes out they all go out. There is no speed limit to the vehicle, it just means that if you exceed a certain speed you are at risk for stability loss. Its pretty much a disclaimer to protect Land Rover itself.

Some water won't be an issue, but check for water again. Water entry is a common issue. Pull the carpet up and inspect for anything pooled.

Since you did install a switch, when did you do it? Did you install properly and not twist it too far which can damage it?

the brake light switch works. I just replaced it. I inspected the floor again and it was damp. I think that the sunroof drain is leaking onto the CJB and has corroded some of the connections there. Im gonna try and fix that and hopefully it’ll do the trick. Fingers crossed
