Default 2nd gear grinding

hey i hope someone can shed some light on this one for me.
my 93 disco crunches into second gear every time i shift to it,if i`m doing more than 1000 revs up or down shifting it really doesn`t like going into gear, gear boxoil levels are good clutch is good.shifter selection is a bit sloppy but its not missing the gear.

Time for an overhaul. sounds like the syncros are gone along with other possible parts, kind of normal especially if you have used 2nd. gear to slow down.

Disco Mike is right.

Seems that it is always the 2nd or 3rd gear on all versions of the LT77 and LT85 that goes first. Yours is heading south.

If you are in the UK, you don't have to rebuild the box. You can simply exchange it. Use a reputable company..avoid ebay. The world's largest LR gearbox refurbisher is Ashcroft Tranmissions in Luton. They will charge you£395.

If you are planning to keep the vehicle a LONG time, see if you can switch to a post-February-1999 R380 at a reasonable price.
