Default 90 RR Classic - Need a jump every morning

Since the weather turned cold I need to jump start my 1990 RR Classic every morning. On the coldest days it's even impervious to a jump, except after several tries.

What didn't work so far:

Installed a brand new battery
Checked battery connections (ok)
Had mechanic check for electrical drains (none)
Had mechanic check starter (ok)

Why is this happening and what can I do? I'm having a baby in a few weeks and I'm not psyched about jump starting it on the way to the hospital while in labor...

How many amps is the starter pulling when cold, bet it is fried.

I don't know - mechanic said it was ok but maybe I can try another mechanic. Anything else I should ask?

UPDATE: For anyone interested, mechanic said brand new battery is defective, installed new one and it started fine this morning. We'll see if it continues to start, and if it will get me to the hospital on time!

The saga continues:

Battery #2 didn't solve the issue, still stalls, especially on colder days. Now Land Rover mechanics say the starter is bad after all - we've ordered one and my husband will try to install it. His research says it's relatively easy to do - we'll see. I may be delivering this baby in the back of a taxi...

No baby's delivered in the back of Taxi's. Worst case, go crawl into the Rover and start your child's experience in this world off on the right ffot.
Hope all works out OK, let us now how both the Rover and baby are doing.
