95 d1 heavy crank and won't start
I have a 1995 d1 with177000 miles on it. My little brother over heated the rover and the head gaskets went bad. When I would crank oil would come out of the area where the cylinder head meets the block. So I took of the heads sent them to get resurfaced cleaned and with new Valve rubbers. I checked for slipped liner but everything seemed fine I even moved the Pistons around to clean and check for any abnormalities. I got the heads and new gaskets and torqued everything to 15 pounds then 90° then another 90° using the correct sequence. After I was done putting everything back together I cranked the vehicle and the crank sounds sluggish and I also have a puff sound coming out of the exhaust. The rover won't start what so ever. I have fuel at the rail and spark at the distributor cap and spark plugs. Any ideas? Do in have timing issues? Or do I have to take off the whole distributor and set it to piston number 1?
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

was the distributor removed when you removed the cyl heads??
if not....keep it simple at first...charge the battery up really well, check your starter and battery ground connections( clean and retighten them)

The distributor was not moved but I did manually move the Pistons to clean them. My battery is weak I took it to O'Reillys to get it checked and came out bad. Today I'm going to try and get a good battery. Thanks for the reply. Hope everything works fine.
