Default 96 4.0 SE Air Suspention problems

Hi all,

You have probably guest I am new to the forum, so hello to you all.

Can any of you help? I have a 1996, 4.0 SE which last weekend developed an EAS fault and subsequently the rear of the car fell to its bump stops. I drove it up the road to a local Landrover specialist who plugged it in to Rovacom. It turned out it had a faulty near side rear height sensor that has now been replaced. However the Rovacom machine is now saying the sensor is out of ranges and still the suspension will not go up or down with the aid of the switch so I have used inhibit to keep it at standard ride height. The Rovacom machine appears to have target heights for each corner which I believe at standard height should be around 124 ish however the near side rear sensor reads 232 ish and the Rovacom system says that the sensor is out of range!!

Please can anybody help?

i think you'd be better off throwing a pair of springs under there. i belive a few dudes here have done or will be doing the conversion. i belive www.roversnorth.com is one place that carries the kit.

Rich,

I have to agree with bene. EAS is Big big $ to keep operational. However if you want to keep it here are my thoughts. The sensors have been updated. Make sure the shop put the correct part and/or upgrade in it. Also make sure the linkage is pointing the right way, compare to other side. Did they calibrate the system after sensor replacement ? It should be done.

I only have experience with the factory Test Book system. I know on some disks it WILL be back wards. In other words, if it says the LR sensor is bad, it really means the RR sensor is bad. Also different screens in TB may be correct/incorrect. It's just all part of British car fun !

EAS system needs to be calibrated after sensor replacement.
