Default 97 Land Rover disco 1 lots of issues

So I bought a 97 Land Rover thinking it would be fun but it’s been nothing but trouble getting it going. Just wondering if anyone knows about the issues I’m having. I replaced the fuel pump now it starts but it goes into high idle like very high 3000 rpm. Then it overheats and spits coolant out everywhere. Then when you try to put it in gear you launch across the yard. Abs light is on and zero brake pedal. Someone help me diagnose these problems please !!

You should post your questions in the D1 forum.

A lot to unpack here. Need to ask these as separate questions I’d say.
I’ll start with trying to help with cooling issues as I’ve pretty much conquered that one.

you need to flush the radiator, change the T-Stat.
search here how to purge all the air out. It’s a process. Could be a bad fan clutch and/or h2o pump but one thing at a time. Oh, and I’d recommend green antifreeze and distilled water.

Where in Texas are you?

report back, on the D1, forum and let us know.
Good luck
