Default 98 Discovery won't start in the morning

I have to spray starting fluid to start my 98 Disc the 1st time every day. I am in San Diego and the temp range is 60 to 75 deg F.Aftergetting the car started onesthe next time it seems to start a bit easier. I havea good battery & new spark plugs/ wires. With Key on /Eng Off the fuel pressure is about 25 to 30 PSI but with in about 15 seconds I hear a relay click and the fuel pressure drops to zero. How do I know if I have a bad relay or a fuel pressure regulator or a bad fuel pump.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Your pressure is supposed to hold over night, when it doesn't then usually it is the pressure valve on the fuel pump.
Try priming the fuel system one morning by turning your key to the second position, hold it there of 4 or 5 seconds, shut it off and repaet 3 times then go for a start. If it starts, it is the valve and a pump is in order.

The problem is in your fuel pump or fuel distributor. I think its not releasing enough fuel to hold your fuel pressue.

Sometimes a dirty fuel filter will add to a tired pressure valve for more starting issues. trying priming the fuell pump by turning your key to the 2nd position, holding it for 5 seconds and turning off. Do this 3 time then start the engine on the 4th attempt, if it starts if is the valve and a pump is in order.

I have a question about the pressure valve.... I beleive my pump/pressure value is tired. I have a 98 disco as well. I only have 14-15 psi continuously, which is obviously to low. It starts and idles fine, just has a lot of issues under load when driving. I assume i should replace the whole assembly, or would just a pump be enough?

The valves are known to fail and if I am correct, you must replace the entire pump to correct the problem.
