Default 99 Disco ll Overheating

Help!
I have had my 99 Disco II for 3 years and when I bought it, it had a water leak between the head and block, the dealer fixed it for free. This past summer I started to have issues from leaks to overheating. I could not find a pattern, would be fine for awhile then when I started it to leave, it would over heat with in a few minutes, also had pressure issues, split the heater hoses as well as the water heat to the throttle body.
Now that it is cold out, I started it and had no heat to the heater core and it over heated within a few minutes. I replaced the thermostat and it seemed to be better for 1 day, I had heat in the rig and it drove normal. But the next morning, no heat inside the rig and overheated within 2 miles. Now it went from bad to worse, I have a blown head gasket! It has steam from the exhaust and it is missing on 1 cylinder!!!

Question: what would stop the heat from coming inside from time to time? It had anti-freeze in it and the new thermostat.

My Plan: New head gaskets, flush the heater core, flush and test the radiator...

Any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

I really hope you have not allowed this to happen so much that your heads are going to be in trouble. 4.0's don't take to multiple over heatings, not sure what you were thinking.
Are you going to do the work or is a shop?

The overheating never made it to the red until this last event, on the other events I always allowed it time to cool down. I will do the work myself in my own shop, I have plenty of experience on working on domestic and foreign cars, 4 to 8 cylinders.[/align]

Good,
You might keep Atlantic British in mind when it comes to gaskets and head bolts. They have a complete ask kir and bolts, Rover made, bot Korean.
Also consider your hoses, especially if you have the old upper hose with the bleed screw molded into the hose not into a small black Tee.
Have fun with that old Buick engine.
