'99 Disco2 won't start...pls read in!
I have had an intermittent problem with my Landy refusing to start and here are the symptoms:
Most often they occur after a major downpour though not sure if it's related but seems more often the case to be coincidental
I attempt to turnover engine and only get clicking sound from under tranny hump. Several electronics fail to work ie: no window motors, flashers, auto lock switch, power seats and occasionally the shifter will not dissengage from park...but all other electronics function as normal.
Tha battery checks out 100% and reads 15v+/- down to the solenoid and a jump start does not
help.
Side bar- I noticed when this occured in the past that there was moisture under dash on right passenger side in and around the heater core shroud and sds components after a good rain (but this time it's dry). I have in the past blow dried the area and magically the vehicle returned to normal and started with full electronics (coincidence?). BTW...this is not a heater core issue and there may be another entry point which is open to speculation.
Any ideas what may be causing this random electrical failure? My Landy mechanic put it on the scope in the past, but only after I got it started and drove to his shop, where nothing turned up ( being a random issue).
appreciate any input,
Robert

I had a similar problem with my '95 Disco. It turned out that I had a rusted through hole in my firewall. Water was leaking through and getting to my electricals. I had the hole patched and all is good now.
Thanks for the replies! I put a trickle charger on the battery and a few hours later she fired up with all electronics in tact. The battery checks out under load test, but my Landy mechanic says it is suspicious.
Anyway, he's hoping to find something with 'test book' and hopefully the randomness won't stump us further.
Will post his findings here when we hear back.
Again...Thanks
Robert
