Default Driver side read door won't open

2000 D2 approx 125 miles.

Well this came out of the blue last night. The driver-side rear door had no problems at all and all of a sudden last night I cannot open it. I didn't want to start attempting to rip door panel off before checking with the forum.

The lock will pop up and pop down with fob and central and with key in door but the outside handle acts as if the door is locked. My one ace in the hole is that the door DOES have the child safety switch ON, so i'm hoping that if I can access it somehow then I'll at least get the door open from the inside. If I start taking the door apart while still shut, can I eventually access the child safety switch? Looking on the other rear door, I think it can be done. Might need a bit of bent flat metal to flick it though.

Any help would be great. Thanks Forum.

I love Land Rovers. Went out to give it another go before trying to pull the inside panels off. Wouldn't budge so I started lightly knocking the outside door handle with a rubber mallet….and it opened. Seems to be all good right now.

If that knocked the release mech. Enough, I would spray some lube in there. I use lithium and/or silicone wd 40, on mine.

Mine locked up not too long ago and just used wd-40 on it, no issue since. I lube it regularly now.

Thanks for the reply. I'll spray them. Where do you spray? right where the mechanism attaches?
