ABS pressuring up after start?
new disco suffers from "cranking/grinding" sound immediately after starting - when starting with foot on brake I feel engaged ABS vibrations. inspected numerous times by two different dealer garages, without remedy and little explanation. my non-technical read is that its the ABS system pressuring up. is this at all common?

RE: ABS pressuring up after start?
the ABS system is a pump and it does need to pressure up, but the grinding I am not sure of. If the tech has looked at the pump and determined that the little rubber grommits are in good working order and the pump is secure then there shoud be no grinding comming from the pump area.

thanks for the info. perhaps grinding is too nasty a description - its more of a short burst of abs action sound. makes me think that the pressure seal is not perfect/clean, but that with pressure from the pump it manages to seal correctly after a couple of seconds. the tech guys have said the abs checks out ok ... but i will have them check again - what are warranties for!

04' Canadian D2 is not like the older LR's. It does not pump up an accumulator. It is An instant on system. It should not make any noise or vibration unless the ABS is actuating.
Are you taking it to A LR Dealer ? If so, how do they explain the vibration/noise on start up ?

Ok ... just had it serviced and asked that the ABS system be inspected because of what I observe. Tech evaluated the ABS system and reported it in proper working order, and can only suggest that the ABS system may be doing a self test upon starting from time to time. I remain puzzled. Does this sound reasonable? Any suggestions as to next steps? I feel like I have little recourse at this point.
