Default Advice please

Good evening all ,,I have always owned 200 and 300 tdi discos but today I looked at a 1999 d2 td5 now I'm not familiar with these so wondered if I could get some guidance it's a clean truck no visible chassis rot springs all round I ran it up to temp it stayed at halfway on gauge and really warm so all good now then when I took it for a test drive it sounded like the wind was coming through the windscreen could it be from door top drivers side ?? Also the worst issue was the distinct lack of power seemed like when setting off it took ages for it to build speed then going through the gears it was hard work getting it going in 5th gear it was only reaching near 60 if that is this a common fault ?? Turbo maybe any help appreciated

You are probably better off asking over at defensersource. This forum tends to be pretty North American Spec (NAS)-centric.

TD5 is a good strong motor and nearly bullet proof, they are electronically controlled and it seems that the MAF is the likely culprit if the intake hoses are all good with no signs of splitting or internal delamination.
One quick check is to pull the red plug from the ECU and look for oil, oil travels along the loom from the injectors via capillary action and causes rough running and lack lustre performance amongst other things,
