alternator help!

Default alternator help!

i have d+ b+ and a w on the back of my alternator and i have no idea what the w stands for? i keep eating through batterys and alternators and i think my wiring might be messed up from previous owner

Cant help you without knowing the year and model.

B+ goes to battery via a fuse link, this is the main output.

D+ goes to the battery warning light on the dash, and must be connected.

W is AC volts to drive a tach, it varys in frequency.
