I hope Rover brings the diesel to the US as I would like to get better fuel mileage. I am very interested in the VW Touareg with their TDI.

Thanks for the interesting comments/posts.

I doubt it in the USA. It costs about $100K US to certify A engine in the States. Based on LR's market share, that would make it a very tough sell. ...
...not if they use the Ford 6.0L V8 Powerstoke

BTW the Jeep Liberty uses the world renowned Mercedes Benz I4 common-rail diesel.

Don't think a powerstroke would please many US customers. I thought I heard the Liberty diesel was a French or Italian engine ?

Naw, can never be too large ! Heck, they already have an almighty gas-guzzling V8 so why not the V8 Powerstoke TDi ? In 2007 when green-diesel is available the Ford F150 is set to get the Powerstroke.

Ford should think about placing the Powerstoke in the LR3 & Range Rover too.

i have said it before, i'll say it again, our 2000 7.3 powerstroke is awesome! i hear good and bad things about the 6.0s though. for the most part good. like a nine to one good to bad ratio. lol if that makes sense

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for their info on this topic. It's been a good read both in tech info and a few smiles.

To start I'd like to say that with current world market for fule a diesel power plant in the LR line should be up and comming very shortly. Considering here in Canada our price per liter is now roughly $1.14 here in Alberta. To the fellow named Vin, I had no idea ford was even considering putting a Diesel in their F150. It makes perfect sense though, I have one at the moment and it's a fule pig as it is. With a diesel I think my motoring woes would be some what less considering the petrol price. The idea of using organics in the diesel fule is something that's taken effect here as well. You can purchase conversion kits for your power plant use the deep fry oil from your local McDonalds, nothing like the smell of french fries on the road , but hey if they want to give it away why not.

I whish there was a better outlet for consumers to make this interest become a priority, I know the LR USA web site has a decent venue to contact them. Sadly LR Canada is nearly impossible to conctact.

Again thanks for all your help and insight.
