Default big evil noise (tranny?)

today i went to the local sand dunes and for some reason i let me little sister drive a bit. she took a pretty big hit. the truck seemed to be fine (inside was a different story, i need a new woofer and found out i could use one of those tuffy drawers) and i went about my way (she will never drove my truck again, and she owes me 3 pies) not 100% sure that ordeal is entirely revevent to my question. but everytihng seemed to be fine the rest of the 'trip' until i was almost home and decelerating (no brakes at the time) down the offramp i heard a bit of a whining noise, (putting it in neuteral did nothing) when i started acceleratong again, i think it stopped. when i slowed to turn the whining came back with a somewhat loud banging noise, which to my best guess was gears slipping.

if it means anything, i still had the 'ABS Valve' fuse pulled

i have a feeling this one's going to hurt.

That is a hard one. If you can get under & find what was hit you
may narrow it down.
My guess is a tran's mount or transfer case mount.
It would let the drive line go off center and you would get the
whining noise, the banging could be the the transmission bumping
the floor. Hope it helps.
Mike.

thanks, ill look into that first thing tomorrow.

one thing i forgot to mention, a while back the tranny wouldnt shift from 1st until it warmed up. i changed the fluid and filter, and it fixed that problem for a month or two (until about a week ago) during that time i was drivng with an over-filled tranny (forgot about the stuff that stayed in the tourque converter, and at the time was way too tired from putting all that crap back together) yesterday before i left, i leveled it out to what it should be according to the dipstick.

I dont think the Trans fluid being over full would make it
do anything but blow a seal (over by a lot) they do vent
so most ATF would have gone out of it.
My Disco (96) is checked cold in neutral and after I run it
for a short time and check it, it shows almost 1.5' over full.
