Default bike rack

I'm trying to get a thule bike rack that hooks into the trailer hitch on my '07 LR3...is it odd that I have to buy an adapter that costs $500+ to hook up a $200 bike rack? Is this adapter somewhere in my truck and I just don't know? It's like having to buy a $500 power button for my radio that came with the truck? The trailer hookup is there, so why such an expense to use it?

Odd...if you have a 2" reciever hitch, the rack should just slide right in....

Might be confused with a trailer light kit?

The trailer hitch is of a European design because it is a European truck that is sold all over the world in the exact same configuration as you have.

I have no idea what the LR3 trailer hitch looks like.
