Default Blend door and head unit issue

I have an 08' RR Westminster. A little while ago my head unit died on me. The orange light stayed on but the fuse popped everytime. Signs of a short of course. So i took it to a local shop and they said my blend doors are faulty and that they are shorting out causing my head unit to short out since they are on the same circuit. They found a stored code for the faulty circuit. Is this a plausible solution for the head unit to be fixed? Is this a common issue or am I just unlucky? Thanks 170k miles by the way, on a dying tranny. My vents on the passanger side pump out much hotter air so the blend door seems like it could be bad, i just dont know how it can short out my head unit. It does come back on from time to time with a new fuse but dies out shortly after.
