Default Brakes are squeaking and sluggish.

I've got a 98 disco and have had her for 3 months. Went camping over the Cascade pass last week with an 8' trailer in tow. I had to slam on the brakes and I could hardly get her to stop. I almost had to ditch it. The trailer didn't have but a thousand pounds in it and now the brakes squeak a lot. I had them looked at by Les Schwab and they said they looked good but they don't work on the Land Rover brakes because they always squeak afterwards. I did here if you blow out the dust that would help. Any help with this will be muchly accepted.

I don't go along with what you were told, with the right brakes and pads, you can stop pretty well and not squeak. I would suggest you replace your rubber brake hoses, do a full 3 pint DOT 4 brake flush and then talk to us about good brake pads and maybe rotors.

Thanks Disco Mike for you quick reply. I am grateful for all the help you all provide with this forum. I'll do the flush and I looked at the brake pads and the rotors. The pads have some meat left on them, I can't tell if they are quality or not but the rotors are a bit worn. Question; Can I flush the system the old way by pumping the breaks and opening the pet-**** and letting the fluid out?
