Camshaft sensor help?
Hey guys/gals...this is my first post but I have been lurking for quite some time. Before getting to my question I want to thank everyone for sharing so much info here...it has helped me a great deal before and after the purchase of my first, and current, 2003 Discovery.
I have a question that I am hoping someone may be able to help me with. Since I bought the vehicle about 6 months ago I have had some problems with a very slight oil leak. Its never been enough to cause major concern until recently when it started to leak quite a bit more seemingly out of nowhere. The Check Engine light came on right when I noticed the larger oil leak. I didn't have time to do anything about the leak and it seemed to be running fine so I kept an eye on it and planned to take care of it when I got a few days off of work. Well, I was driving home from work last week when the car just shut off on me while coming home. I was able to start it right away but it quit again about 5 miles later and this time wouldn't start back up. I got to the side of the road and after checking the basics and sitting for about 30 minutes it started back up and I limped it home. I haven't driven it since and now have the time to take care of the problem. I wasn't sure if the oil leak could have anything to do with the misfire/sensor issue but figured I would mention it in case it could be relevant to this situation.
My buddy has a scanner so we put it on the car and got 2 codes. The first was for multiple engine misfires and the second was for a cylinder 7 misfire. After some research and talking to a few guys from the parts store, I was led to believe that it was more than likely the camshaft position sensor. I just wanted to see if any of you may have had this problem in the past and know if thats a common thing to go on this vehicle/engine? I am pretty good with doing my own basic work (brakes, starters, alternators, etc) but have never done a camshaft/crankshaft sensor...is this something that is likely to give me fits or is it relatively easy? I'm planning on doing a full tune-up while replacing the sensor just to eliminate that possibility but any and all advice that you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help that you are able to offer!!!

A big thanks to DiscoMike for the phone call and advice. Ordered the plugs/wires and the Crankshaft sensor and should be getting to work in about a week. I'll post back and let you know how it goes. Thanks again...
