i have a 1999 Disco 1...it was getting super hard to pop my hood and this weekend we were working on the rover and the air filter plastic thing didn't get put in its place all the way and the hood is up a little bit..i went to pop the hood and the plastic T thing you grab broke...so i tied a rope to it and pulled it and it still won't pop the hood....

how in the world can i pop the hood now?

 

Get some pliers and grab the end of the cable, they get hard when the lube dries out.
Easy enough to replace just the inner cable.
