Default Cleaning Engines

I have been getting my 2006 LR3 HSE and 2012 Range Rover Autobiography detailed on a regular basis since I have bought them. But recently after reading about it and hearing from other owners, while detailing the engine in these cars there have been issues with corrosion, wires, leads, etc causing issues with the engines causing engine issues, issues with transmission modules, etc. I was wondering if this was truly the case and how the engine should be truly cleaned because as of right now the man just sprays down the engine without wrapping anything and then spraying AP cleaner and following the normal process.

I often clean my engines down using Jizer degreasant worked in with a creosote brush and jet washed off. Never use the 'needle' jet but the 'fanned' spray. Admittedly they are all diesel engines so no ignition electrics. I always run them immediately afterwards for 10 minutes for the cooling fan to blow off the excess water then blow them over with an air line and finally spray them with silicon spray.
