Default Coolant queation

Hi!!
i am looking at a 2002 discovery 2 with a 4.0 motor. It loses coolant and the head gaskets have been done. There's no white smoke from the exhaust, it's "burping" out the reservior. Could this be an air pocket, or is it the block? The truck is excellent cosmetically, and has old man emu shocks. The seller wants $600 for it, I'm not sire it's worth doing a motor in though. Any help would be appreciated. It's exactly the truck I want, but only if I can great it drivabt for a reasonable amount of money.

How old is the head gasket job?

Coolant loss could be a leak and you'd see that on the ground.

If it is burning coolant the head gasket could need replacement (again) or it could be a slipped cylinder liner (though that is more prevalent on the 4.6 engines). And of course the block could be trashed. A pressure test would help narrow it down.

Default Thank you

It never got on the road again after the head gasket job. It was done by the owner, not a professional.

If he didn't have the heads machined its likely the head gasket leak is still present

I guess the head gaskets are about a grand to change, if it's head gaskets and he underside isn't rusty, I would love to get it.

I think lucky8 has the headgasket kits with bolts for under $100. $200-300 to have the heads done at the machine shop. Fluids etc and a weekend of time puts you closer to $500
