correct fluid for transmission
don't know it this has been addressed or if this question has been asked, but, maybe i miss read the post, i was under the impression that the fluid that is supposed to be used for a transmission fluid change is differential fluid. but according to auomotivecomp.com, the only fluid to be used for the tranny is dexron III atf fluid. i need to change my tranny fluid soon and want use the correct fluids. like i said, maybe i miss-read the post. thanks everybody.

okay, i feel dumb. i read t/case as transmission. so, to make sure i am reading this correct, t/case and differentials use differential oil. transmission is okay with dexron III tranny fluid. now, why is dex-cool bad as an antifreeze? sorry for all the dopey questions, trying to keep my rover going for a long time. doing repairs and replacements slowly and by myself. thanks again.

No such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.
The differentials and the transfer case all take gear oil.
The transmission takes Dexron III.
Why id Dex-Cool bad?

thanks spike. just found the pictures you are posting about last night. DAMN!!! looks like its a cooling system flush, even though my coolant is green, the previous owner had stated to me that he used a 50/50 mix of dexcool and antifreeze. the coolant is bright-ish green so not sure if they make a dex cool in green. either way, flushing system in afternoon. thanks again.
