Default D2 overheating

Hey folks, my D2 is overheating and I have replaced the water pump and thermostat. I have burped it several times to remove air. Its runs for about two hours the first time after setting the system, but after shutting it down and restarting it then overheats when it comes to temp then next time. It's very frustrating and I'm at my waits end. I was told that it might be the headgasket blow air in the coolant. Any thoughts? I'm not really up for another headgasket.

two questions..
1) are you losing coolant? I'm not talking about an overflow, I'm talking about the coolant level falling without apparent leakage/overflow.
2) can you get an exhaust gas tester? Auto parts stores (and Amazon) sell a kit which tests for exhaust gases in your coolant. Not definitive, but worth a check for $20.
