Default Diesel LR's and intercooler cleaning

Some years ago I fitted an EGR blanking plate kit to my TD5. A couple of weeks ago I was doing some work on the D2 and decided to flush out the intercooler with degreasant, then water (hose pressure) followed by brake and clutch cleaning fluid. There emerged a lot of black sticky 'clag' from inside the intercooler during this process which was probably built up due to the EGR. Having flushed the intercooler and fitted new silicone intercooler hoses the difference is noticeable. A job well worth doing on diesels. BUT BE WARNED, ENSURE WHATEVER YOU FLUSH OUT THE INTERCOOLER WITH THAT YOU CLEAN IT OUT PROPERLY AND BLOW AIR THROUGH WITH A COMPRESSOR OR VACUUM CLEANER AND LEAVE FOR 12 HOURS TO EVAPORATE OTHERWISE WHEN YOU START IT UP AGAIN IT MIGHT PROVE VERY LIVELY AND DO DAMAGE.
