normal oil consumption is 1000-1500k miles per quart, check the dipstick and do the math
With 100,000 miles on my 99 D2, I add less then a pint/ way less, between 3000 mile oil changes.
Yes, the manufactures will tell you it's fine to loose some oil, and it is not. They normally will consider warranty on on an engine when it burns 1 quart per 800 miles.

Wow! - I am surprised to hear that.Mine only has 37K and seems to be using (or losing), about 1 Qt per 1000 miles. My Tahoe, on the other hand, has ~ 60 +K and neither burns nor loses any oil. I've been traveling and have been unable to get the rig into the dealer but expect toeither this or next week. My roof has begun to leak also so that'llbe something else I'll be expecting to have addressed.I'll update the threadonce I do. I very much appreciate everyone's input!

BTW..I am not at allsorry I own this vehicle, It suits me - I'm a big guy and I find it to be quite comfortable and Ienjoy driving it both on the highway and off-road! I hope LR does not disappoint me and will resolve the oil and roof leak issues.

So, when are you going to start tracking the oil issue with the dealer and get it fixed?
