Default Disco II Radio Problems 02

I am at my wits end. The radio comes on and shows the stations and even what song is playing but no sound comes out. I checked all the fuses under the hood and inside on drivers side. I also checked the fuses under the front seats. All looks good. I even ordered a used amp and installed it and nothing. Any ideas??

My radio only comes on when I turn my headlights on. Radio goes off when I turn off my lights....sorry I could not help. I call it the disco gremlin...its one of many of gremlins in my disco. Also no low beams, only hi beams...

Good luck but sorry I could not help

Have you checked the back of the radio to make sure all the wiring is connected and that the fuse that's back there is good?

It sounds like you may need either a new headlight/indicator switch (only having high beams is a common sign of failure) or you may have a problem with the rotary coupler (sometimes called the clockspring) which routes all the electrical from the steering wheel. The mode/volume switch combined with your headlight issues points to the possibility of either of these two or both being the culprit.
