Discovery 2 TC5 knocking during acceleration
Hi I have just purchased a 2002 D2 TD5 with 150 000 miles on the clock. Its in superb condition and has been well looked after by its two previous owners.
It runs superb and I have just completed a 400 mile round trip with no issues.
However on the odd occasion, under accelerarion, the engine displays pe ignition (pinking) / knocking (as the manual calls it). It only does it now and again or not at all for days at a time. The manual suggests poor quality fue (I use Shell)l, vacuum leak/ intake manifold leak, carbon build up or over hearting (not this as its some times does it when cold).
Has any owners experienced this problem and found a fix? Any advice would help before I look to solving the problem.
Many thanks for your time and help.
