Default Engine noise during acceleration

I just bought a 2000, Disco II with 73,000 miles. My issue is that when it acclerates it makes what I can only only describe as an unatural sounding whirring noise, that is noticable but not too loud. The guy I bought had it since it had 30,000 miles on it and says that he thought that it was characteristic of all Disco II's. He went on to say that it has made the noise since he bought the vehicle.I wanted to find out if that might be true or is it a sign of something more serious? Thanks for any help.

Default RE: Engine noise during acceleration

Usually a belt, both belt idler pulleys and or the belt tensioner are the cause.
You might also vheck and see if the 2 front grease fittings that hook to the front t/case have grease fitting, if not they also need to be replaced ASAP
