Hi, all. I recently purchased a 2018 Discovery and on a recent trip to the duck marsh had a friend try to remove the 7 pin trailer electrical plug from the socket on the car without disengaging the safety hook on the small plastic cover. Needless to say, he broke the plastic cover off of the socket. An inquiry into ordering parts here from my US dealer revealed that the wiring harness, outlet, and protective covers are all one single unit and will be US $220 to replace. While I know a decision to purchase a high-end vehicle like this is fraught with annoying costs like this, it seems totally unreasonable to pay $220 for a $.02 part. Since Land Rover does not use standard U.S. OEM connectors, other options available to me via trailer supply stores locally won't work. Has anyone else ever experienced and do you have any advice for a hack here? Thanks in advance.
