Cool Doors will not auto unlock.

Hey all,

I have an 01 Disco and the doors magically stopped unlocking with keyless entry. Also, the unlock/lock mechanism on center console doesn't seem to work. I hear the doors trying to unlock, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Cheers.

It sounds to me like it's your Body Control Unit that gave out on you. Thats practically what controls the lock/unlock system for the vehicle, including your keyless entry, and your interior lights from lighting up. I found a place online called, Rover Land Parts and they have good deals on parts as such. First confirm whether thats the problem just to be sure though. But I'm pretty certain that's what causing your little glitch on your vehicle. Good luck man.

The drivers door lock actuator is bad, that is the one that controls all the other doors.
Lock the truck and then using the key unlock the drivers door, all the others should unlock.

Thanks guys for the input.

Spike- Only driver door unlocks when using key manually, the others click like they might unlock, but no go. Does each lock have an actuator?

Nhude- I will check on the body control unit and see if this might be the problem as well.

Cheers

Yes each door lock has its own actuator but only the drivers door controls them.
It sounds like you have several bad actuators.
If you are adventurous you can rebuild them with parts from Radio Shack.
I find it hard to believe that all of them went bad at the same time though.
Something else must be going on, what I dont know.

I have one bad actuator, right rear. How difficult is it to re-build with radio shack parts?
