Default How long does LR keep service records?

Like the title asks, I'm looking at a DII and the owner says they called a dealership to get the service history for me but the dealer said they only keep service records for 2 years. This doesn't sound right to me but I wanted to ask here to be sure; any truth to this? Was the dealer being lazy? Is the owner being shady?

TIA

if they are using a computerized system, then much longer than two years. If its all paper R.O's then maybe much less. Why dont you call the dealer and find out ?

They dont have unlimited computer space.
2 Years sounds really short to me.
But I can see 2 years from the date of the LAST service.
So if you had a oil change done at the dealer 2 years ago and nothing else then it is erased, bust as long as you were to keep current in their system they would keep the records forever.

That seems to be the most logical reason, but it turns out to be a moot point. I asked for the VIN so I could contact the dealer and it falls within the oil pump problem VIN range.

Thanks for the help Spike and dgi.
