Default followup on ECM

hey, my 96 dico (130k miles) was having problems with overheating when it suddenly stopped starting. i resolved the overheating issue with a new waterpump and thermostat, but it still wouldnt start. i took it to the local dealership and had them inspect it only to tell me i needed to buy a $2100 ecm. i found a used one in good working condition for $250. i put the new ecm in, tried to start it, and the vehicle only cranks but the vehicle still wont start. im wondering if it needs to be programmed or something? if so, who can do this?

I am pretty sure you will have to have the used ECU set up by the dealer so it will work in your truck.

thanks. im glad to hear that because i was begining to think that the replacement didnt work. but here's another question. if i tried to pop the clutch, would the vehicle start or would it still be disabled by the immobilization unit? i dont want to try and start her only to do more damage to her.
