Default Freelander Cam Seals

What is the fix to the intake flap that keeps blowing out the Cam Seals when cold?

Thanks,

there is a new updated hose assembly but if it has been done then it is probably the piston rings are shot.

but if only when really cold then yes its the updated hose assembly.

Yes I'm in a cold Climate. this is the second time it as happened. It happens when the outside temp gets below 10.
What is the kit that has been mentioned? Land Rover said this morning that I just needed to clean the crank case vent but where is it at?

Thanks for the help.

Where can I get the kit? It isn't the rings. This thing burns no oil between changes even with 120,000 on it. these seals are the only problem I have had.

Thanks for the help,

There is a bulletin about the hose kit. You need a picture to see what the hose looks like and where it goes. If the hose is the same then yes its something else.

Go back to the dealer and ask about pcv hose freezing up bulletin and get the picture to make sure its the new one.

crankcase cleaning. JEEZ.

The area I live is considered mild climate with only a few days of snow per year ( if any ). We do have cold spells here but never extreme. I have seen a couple of freelanders with this issue here. I would say if you are near freezing, snowy areas you might check this out and have your car updated to be safe. I don't think the update is too expensive, cheap insurance!

I have a 2003. Last winter the cam seal closest to firewall popped out. I tapped it back in and all was well until today. It has been cold here - near 0 deg F and I have been driving the vehicle. Today (temp = 20 deg F), I started vehicle to warm up. Heard a pssssst (pressure relief sound) and looked to find the seal popped off again. Tapped it back in and it popped off again in 2 mins of idle. Ordered new one from dealer. I worry about crankcase pressure, dealer did not mention hose issue and told me there was not a PCV valve. Guess I'll tap a new one in and monitor...

2003 maybe, 02 yes. but you need the diagram to see the new hose to see if you have it.

although for a 120k I would suspect the hoses being fouled up. clean them with brake clean to see if it affects the change.

its the back hose that is really large.

I can't access the bulletin or put it online. But it occurred quite frequently in my territory.
